Service Description

This class is designed for beginners and those with basic skills, no previous pottery experience is required. In this 4 week pottery class, you’ll be introduced to the full process of wheel throwing from start to finish. Each session builds on the last as you learn essential skills like wedging, centering, throwing, trimming, attaching handles, and glazing. With small class sizes of 6 people, you’ll receive plenty of individual guidance as you develop your skills on the wheel. You’ll take home a small collection of handmade ceramics, typically including cups and bowls. Each piece will be fully finished, glazed, and ready for use! All Inclusive Pricing All clay, tools, glazes, and both bisque and glaze firings are included. One 22 lbs bag of clay is provided, with additional clay available for purchase if desired. Finished work will be ready for pickup approximately 1–2 weeks after the final class. Your Instructor: Lauren is a full-time potter with over five years of experience with ceramics. She holds a Bachelor of Education from Vancouver Island University and previously worked as a classroom teacher before opening Selah Pottery Studio. Drawing on her background in education, Lauren brings a patient, supportive teaching style that focuses on clear demonstration, hands-on guidance, and meeting students where they’re at. She aims to create an inclusive, low-pressure environment where you can explore, develop sills, and build confidence at your own pace. Please note: This class is designed for adults, with a minimum age of 16. Participants under 19 require a parent or guardian–signed liability waiver. What to bring An apron or clothes you don’t mind getting messy. A small towel is helpful. You’re also welcome to bring inspiration images.
